About TIM

My name is Tim Parkin, and I am a lifelong, multigenerational resident of Olmsted County. I am a proud husband and father to an incredible 7-year-old. When I am not working, I enjoy running, fishing, skiing, camping, and spending time outdoors with my family—activities that reflect my deep appreciation for the community and resources we are fortunate to have here.

My law enforcement career began after earning a degree in Law Enforcement. In 2005, I was hired as a Police Officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. In 2007, I returned home to Olmsted County and joined the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, where I have proudly served our community ever since.

During my time with the Sheriff’s Office, I have had the opportunity to serve in many roles, including Patrol Deputy, Narcotics Investigator with the Southeast Minnesota Narcotics and Gang Task Force, Detective, Sergeant, and Captain. I currently serve as a Captain overseeing the Investigation Division, Public Information Officer (PIO), and Commander of the Southeast Minnesota Violent Crimes Enforcement Team. These experiences have provided me with a broad understanding of public safety operations and the leadership needed to guide a modern law enforcement agency.

I am committed to continuous learning and professional development. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and a Master of Business Administration. I am also a graduate of the National Command and Staff College and have earned a Director’s Certificate in Emergency Management. These educational experiences, along with extensive law enforcement training, have strengthened my ability to lead, manage resources responsibly, and respond effectively to complex challenges.

Leadership has always been a driving force in my career. I am humbled by the opportunity to seek election as Olmsted County Sheriff. As Sheriff, I will focus on authentic leadership, strong partnerships with our community, fiscal responsibility with taxpayer dollars, and ensuring that the dedicated employees of the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office have the training, resources, and support they need to serve safely and meet the evolving needs of our community.
